1st day: 7 hours includes a 1-hour lunch break.
We will spend the first day going over techniques for both indigo dyeing and shibori work (folding, using clamps, PVC tubes, etc.) and deconstructed screen printing. We will discuss how to prepare the screens with thickened dyes and everyday materials to create interesting and unique prints.
2nd day: 7 hours includes a 1-hour lunch break.
On the second day, we'll play with monoprinting using gelli plates and also Thermofax screens to enhance the monoprinted or Shibori-dyed fabrics we've created. Students will also have the chance to create more fabrics using deconstructed screen printing from the previous day (the process is a little addictive).
Limited to 6 students
Materials students to bring:
Just an apron and protective gloves (such as latex or dish gloves). The paints and other materials (including 5 yards of fabric, some prepared in a soda-soak wash for dye work) will be provided to each student. Pokey will send out a list of optional items, too, to registered students.
Accommodations not included, but lunch is provided for both days. Gluten-free and vegetarian options will be available.
No refunds unless the workshop is cancelled, or there is someone on the waitlist to replace your spot.
